Pharmacy Technician Job Description

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of medication dispensing and processing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process medication orders for distribution to patients, clients, or residents.
  • Receive and verify prescriptions from practitioners, ensuring completeness and authenticity.
  • Prepare and process prescriptions, including entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or re-packaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions prepared by self or others.
  • Process prescriptions for temporary inpatient leaves of absence.
  • Enter and maintain accurate records of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
  • Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 and graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current practicing registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to keyboard and operate related equipment.
