The Production Scheduler will play a critical role in ensuring the timely delivery of manufactured goods by planning and coordinating manufacturing activities and resources across two manufacturing plants. This position will require strong analytical and organizational skills, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with Production Management to develop and implement production schedules that meet facility requirements.
- Assist in resolving obstacles to on-time delivery and ensure that production plans are executed efficiently.
- Monitor and report on worker efficiency and production rates, identifying areas for improvement.
- Maintain and produce weekly and daily production plans based on the monthly forecast.
- Evaluate capacity and ensure it is aligned with the forecast, identifying constraints and making recommendations for improvement.
- Focus on bottlenecking manufacturing areas and propose solutions based on analysis of capacity outlook.
- Coordinate outsourcing activities as a solution to capacity constraints.
- Enhance scheduling visual management on the two manufacturing floors.
- Assist in building and maintaining production key performance indicators and reporting.
- Coordinate daily production activities between Production Supervisors, including scheduling build dates, communicating build delays, and generating production reports.
- Provide wrap dates and communicate any changes to the shipping schedule.
- Monitor progress of builds and communicate issues to ensure that ship dates are met.
- Create the production schedule, ensuring that plans reflect priority work and are accurate.
- Reconcile schedule attainment for daily, weekly, and monthly plans.
- Perform data entry as required to record statistical information.
- Coordinate material availability with the purchasing department and schedule jobs accordingly.
- Communicate schedule requirements to the shop floor and accommodate said requirements in a production plan that meets corporate objectives.
- Identify overtime requirements and coordinate with the Production Supervisors.
- Update the scheduling system to maintain up-to-date status information.
- Monitor, audit, and maintain performance to target along with the scheduling system at all times.
- University degree or diploma in Operations Management or Commerce is an asset.
- Strong analytical background and organization skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to utilize a variety of software tools to perform forecasting, modeling, analysis, simulations, and flow chart functions.
- Demonstrated written and oral communications skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Strong customer service orientation.
