Responsibilities

The Product Design team at Workato is a tight-knit group of designers, product managers, and engineers working together to create exceptional user experiences. We're seeking an early-career Interaction Designer who can contribute to our mission.

As an Interaction Designer at Workato, you'll work on designing the future of work, collaborating with our team to bring innovative ideas to life. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Understanding project requirements, questioning assumptions, and working with our research team to gain a deeper understanding of user mental models.
  • Translating ideas into viable solutions using the appropriate tools and fidelity, from low-fidelity drawings to detailed UI specifications.
  • Defining user journeys and task flows for projects.
  • Choosing design patterns and justifying your decisions.
  • Prototyping ideas using Figma or CodePen, including micro-interactions that enhance the product experience.
  • Approaching your work with a system and scalability mindset, considering how your designs impact the broader product.
  • Writing clear, concise copy for your projects in consultation with our content designer.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in HCI, Human Factors, UX, New Media, or Design, with 5+ years of experience. Alternatively, self-taught designers with 5+ years of experience shipping quality products.
  • A portfolio that showcases your work.
  • A refined aesthetic sense to work within and expand upon our style.
  • The ability to present, justify, and defend your design decisions to stakeholders.
  • Experience with motion design, particularly using HTML, CSS, JS, and other front-end technologies, is a significant plus.
Soft Skills and Personal Characteristics

We're looking for candidates who possess:

  • A drive to understand the technical limitations behind your design decisions and a willingness to learn how to communicate your ideas to our engineers.
  • Proactiveness in learning and actively seeking opportunities to improve the product in innovative ways.
  • The ability to stay up-to-date on the latest design trends and patterns and critique them effectively.
  • An openness to feedback and constructive criticism.
