Role Summary

The Aircraft Reliability and Maintenance Specialist is tasked with utilizing both theoretical and practical methodologies to ensure the reliability, safety, and functionality of aircraft components, subsystems, and systems. This role is crucial in identifying potential reliability, safety, and maintainability challenges early in the aircraft lifecycle, while also supporting ongoing enhancements to optimize overall aircraft performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in demonstrating compliance with aviation standards and safety protocols through the review and/or preparation of System Safety Analysis certification documentation.
  • Conduct comprehensive reliability design development and evaluations, including Functional Hazard Assessments, Particular Risk Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis, and Common Cause Analysis.
  • Aid in the creation of instructions for Continued Airworthiness and the Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL).
  • Contribute to the safety assessment of in-service aircraft by performing qualitative and quantitative analyses of service experiences, employing methods such as Weibull Analysis, Monte Carlo Simulation, and Sensitivity Analysis.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of Reliability and Maintenance outputs for new development initiatives while addressing the requirements of the operational aircraft fleet and production activities.
  • Engage in design reviews, customer discussions, and technical or business-related workshops.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers, designers, and project managers.
  • Promote continuous improvement and exhibit exceptional technical leadership.

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of pertinent experience in Aerospace Reliability and Safety.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of Reliability, Safety, and Maintainability design, analysis, and testing principles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Aircraft and System Safety Assessment processes.
  • Familiarity with aircraft design and certification protocols.
  • Understanding of aircraft systems (Electrical and Avionics Systems, Flight Controls, Landing Gear systems, etc.) and operational documentation.
  • Awareness of relevant Part 23 and Part 25 regulations and associated industry guidance materials.
  • Proficiency in MSG-3 scheduled maintenance program development.
  • Familiarity with MMEL (TP9155E) requirements and operational methodologies.
  • Knowledge of development assurance processes for aircraft design is advantageous.
  • Understanding of safety assessment methodologies related to cybersecurity is a plus.
  • Proficient in software tools such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams), CAFTA, and FaultrEASE.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey information effectively in all professional contexts.
  • A passion for the challenges associated with the design, manufacturing, and support of aircraft.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
