About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance and Accounting Technician to join our team within Academic Affairs at MacEwan University. As a key member of our finance team, you will provide exceptional support services to our clients, ensuring their financial needs are met through accurate tracking, reporting, and reconciliation of financial information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reconcile financial information, prepare journal entries, and ensure compliance with professional accounting standards and organizational financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepare reports, pivot tables, and tracking sheets to support financial management systems.
  • Assist with operating and capital budgets preparation, and answer finance-related staff and vendor inquiries.
  • Perform monthly procurement card reconciliation, generate expense reports, and ensure expenditures comply with university policy.
  • Prepare and review reports with budget holders, monitor budgets and account balances, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Document processes to support efficient transaction flow, internal control, and compliance with university financial policies and timelines.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience, with a strong background in financial transactions and accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data analytics, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and tact.
