Facilities Maintenance Carpenter

Location: Iqaluit, Nunavut


As a Facilities Maintenance Carpenter, you will report directly to the Facilities Manager and play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our properties, including buildings, warehouses, and housing units.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and identify maintenance needs for the company's properties.
  • Address and resolve urgent maintenance requests related to structural, mechanical, and electrical issues.
  • Develop detailed scopes of work and procure necessary materials and services while adhering to procurement guidelines.
  • Plan and execute carpentry projects, including obtaining estimates for materials and contractor services.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and tenancy laws while managing staff housing.
  • Participate in on-call and standby duties as required by the operational needs of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Intra-provincial certification in Carpentry.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in carpentry and building maintenance.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inter-provincial Red Seal certification in Carpentry.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
  • Familiarity with the local culture and environment.
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun, or French.
