Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse - Ophthalmology

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Practical Nurse to join our Ophthalmology team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical competence, excellent patient and family-driven care, in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of care providers, with an emphasis on the assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of patient health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical competence and excellent patient and family-driven care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of care providers to assess, educate, prevent, maintain, and restore patient health.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and families.
  • Think critically, set priorities, and organize work in response to client/patient needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of transfers and lifts.
  • Scrubs for surgical procedures in the Operating Room under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Prepares the Operating Room for scheduled cases as assigned.
  • Have proficient skill level with computers, MS Word, Internet searches, data entry, and patient information systems.
  • Complies with all established occupational health and safety standards.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized Community College.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Operating Room diploma course.
  • Minimum of 2 years recent Operating Room experience preferred.
  • Ophthalmology experience an asset.
  • Proficient skill level with computers, MS Word, Internet searches, data entry, and patient information systems.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.

This is a Full-time Temporary Position of 1 Year with 8 hour shifts, days, evening, including Weekends and On-Call in the OR, Ophthalmology Unit.
