Engineering Supervisor
Linamar Corporation is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead, mentor, and oversee our dedicated team of engineers. This role presents a unique opportunity within a dynamic, high-volume, and technologically advanced manufacturing environment, offering pathways for ongoing professional development and career progression.
This position will report directly to the Engineering Manager and is required to be performed on-site at our facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a skilled team of 8, including Program Managers, Project Engineers, and Process Engineers.
- Formulate process plans for new components, conduct time studies, and prepare cost estimates for parts while evaluating existing processes.
- Execute feasibility assessments to determine necessary equipment and provide justifications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality assurance, and maintenance teams to address production-related issues.
- Analyze and strategize industrial activities such as takt times, tooling assessments, ergonomics, and safety evaluations.
- Review Customer Focus Plans, Corrective Actions, and Engineering Change Requests to ensure timely resolutions.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of new engineering analysis tools, including CAD and CAD/CAM systems.
- Select appropriate equipment and materials, as well as subcontracting sources.
- Oversee the installation and initial commissioning of equipment.
- Conduct and document machine tool capability studies.
- Provide troubleshooting support for production challenges as necessary.
- Assign customer projects to engineers for effective coordination of quotations, program launches, production runs, and problem resolution.
- Support the preparation of Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SRED) claims.
- Responsible for optimizing plant layout.
- Complete production schedules to monitor project processes and progress.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of four years of experience in a machining or manufacturing setting.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or project management role.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods, process and machine capability standards, and lot control techniques.
- Understanding of Quality and Environmental management systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
- Experience with statistical analysis software and computer-aided design, manufacturing, and machining tools.
- Ability to perform precise measurements using specialized instruments and techniques.
- Awareness of emerging technologies and advancements in the engineering sector.
