Position Summary:
Join UHN's Laboratory Medicine Program, recognized as Canada's largest hospital diagnostic laboratory and a global leader in academic laboratory services.
With an impressive volume of over 30 million tests conducted annually and 1,300 outpatients served daily, we are at the forefront of pathology and clinical diagnostics.
Become part of our dynamic team of 700 dedicated professionals and play a crucial role in advancing the future of laboratory medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure cleanliness of the work area.
- Prepare written and electronic documentation to record procedures and test outcomes.
- Engage in teaching, educational initiatives, safety protocols, and quality improvement programs.
- Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Complete a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program, required.
- Maintain current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO), required.
- Possess one (1) year of recent laboratory experience in a large hospital Biochemistry Laboratory, preferred.
- Demonstrate the ability to develop skills and knowledge across all laboratory areas through on-the-job experience.
- Exhibit knowledge of laboratory procedures, instruments, equipment, and special techniques relevant to the assigned area.
- Show excellent problem recognition and problem-solving abilities.
- Utilize effective time management skills to organize work and set priorities.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain accuracy under pressure.
- Understand applicable hospital and departmental policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols.
- Commit to ongoing education and professional development.
- Provide coaching to technical staff as needed.
