Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grooming Team Lead to join our team at Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. As a key member of our snowcat operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of groomers to ensure the highest quality of snow surfaces on our slopes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and supervision to the grooming crew to ensure safe and efficient operation of snowcat equipment.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the grooming crew.
  • Operational Planning: Collaborate with the Mountain Safety Team to develop and implement daily weather, slope maintenance, and control plans.
  • Logistics and Administration: Manage labor costs, assign tasks, and oversee daily operations of the grooming crew.
  • Maintenance and Safety: Ensure compliance with maintenance and safety directives, and perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the grooming crew, Mountain Safety Team, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience operating snowcats or comparable equipment with an excellent safety record.
  • Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic operations and maintenance of snowcat equipment.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of mountain resort maintenance and ski/snowboarding needs, as well as knowledge of snow grooming equipment operation and standards.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience effectively managing or supervising a team, and experience in administration and budgeting of a department or team.
  • Soft Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications, and previous first aid experience an asset.

Working Conditions
  • Flexibility: Must be able to work flexible hours, including evening or night shifts.

  • Weather Conditions: This role will be exposed to extreme weather conditions at the resort (snow, wind, cold) in isolated areas.
