Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Unity Child Care Centres. As an Early Childhood Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and education to children in our child care centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Child Care and Education
    • Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
    • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
    • Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
  • Supervision and Leadership
    • Supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers.
    • Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
    • Establish guidelines for behaviour and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings.
    • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
    • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • Member of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
    • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate.
    • First Aid Certificate.
    • CPR Certificate.
  • Experience and Skills
    • Experience working with children of various ages and abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Physical stamina to keep up with the demands of working with children.
