Position Overview:

Nanalysis is a prominent manufacturer and global distributor of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) products tailored for the laboratory instrumentation sector. As a publicly traded entity (TSXV:NSCI, FRA:1N1, USA:OTC:NSCIF) adhering to IFRS reporting standards, Nanalysis is in search of a skilled and meticulous Lead Financial Accountant to enhance our vibrant finance department.

The Lead Financial Accountant will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity of financial documentation, guaranteeing adherence to accounting regulations, and delivering strategic financial analysis to bolster the organization’s expansion and profitability. This position demands a robust grasp of accounting principles, outstanding analytical capabilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with various teams.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Corporate Controller. Compensation will be aligned with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. General Ledger Management:
    · Execute journal entries and develop methodologies to document transactions and sustain ledgers across diverse formats and systems.
    · Oversee, implement, and track timely monthly and quarterly closing activities to support both internal and external reporting.
  2. Financial Reporting and Insights:
    · Assist in the preparation and evaluation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    · Conduct variance analysis to uncover trends, inconsistencies, and areas for enhancement.
    · Deliver insightful financial reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  3. Account Reconciliation:
    · Conduct account reconciliations, ensuring precision and promptly addressing discrepancies.
    · Maintain and refresh the general ledger with accurate and comprehensive data.
    · Prepare and review various statutory reports, including sales tax and WCB submissions.
  4. Regulatory Compliance and Auditing:
    · Ensure compliance with all pertinent accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies.
    · Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and clarifications.
  5. Budgeting and Financial Forecasting:
    · Collaborate with the finance team to formulate and oversee budgets and forecasts.
    · Contribute to financial projections and assist in long-term financial planning.
  6. Process Optimization:
    · Identify opportunities for process enhancements and streamline financial operations.
    · Implement best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  7. Financial Controls:
    · Establish and uphold internal controls to protect company assets, mitigate financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory mandates.
    · Monitor and enforce adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  8. Team Collaboration:
    · Work alongside cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, and procurement, to gather financial data and insights.
    · Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow team members.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CPA designation preferred with a minimum of 3 years post-designation experience, or substantial experience in progressive accounting roles with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Preference for candidates with industry experience or full-cycle accounting roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Familiarity with IFRS reporting standards.
  • Proficient in financial software and tools.
  • Strong to advanced Excel skills required (i.e., pivots, lookups, tables, filters, finance functions).
  • PowerBI proficiency is an asset.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality.

Additional Skills:

  • Must be able to pass a Canadian Government Reliability Clearance check.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Compensation: $95,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
