About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Metal Fabrication Instructor to join our faculty team at Nova Scotia Community College. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to teach and mentor students in the Metal Fabrication program, sharing your expertise and passion for the trade.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality educational experiences for students in the Metal Fabrication program, including theoretical and practical instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver educational experiences that meet the needs of a diverse group of learners.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, adhering to health and safety practices and procedures.
  • Maintain currency with industry practices and develop your understanding of 21st-century teaching and learning practices.
  • Participate in academic and career advisement, committee work, program marketing, and curriculum revision/development.
  • Support and monitor work placements, liaise with business and industry, and represent the College as required.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an Inter-provincial Journeyperson Certification as a Metal Fabricator (Fitter). A certificate or diploma in Adult Education would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the Metal Fabrication industry.
  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW, and steel fabrication processes.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, email, and MS Teams. Experience using Brightspace would be an asset.
  • You have demonstrated experience liaising with business and industry in your field.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment and committed to using technology to support an exceptional student experience.
