Hiring Manager: Senior Development Manager

Location: Hybrid - Toronto, requiring in-office presence once a week

Contract Duration: 6 months

Number of Positions: 1

Schedule: 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday; standard 37.5 hours/week

Typical Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with backend API developers, business analysts, and architects to enhance existing features and develop new functionalities.
  2. Design and refine automated testing scenarios.
  3. Propose innovative ideas to enhance the testing framework.
  4. Create reliable and repeatable automated testing solutions for production software.
  5. Develop both positive and negative test scenarios in partnership with business analysts and technical leads.
  6. Assist in diagnosing issues identified by automated tests or raised by production support, maintaining close communication with the development team.
  7. Contribute to a large-scale product that enhances the banking experience for millions of users.
  8. Build automated testing tools and frameworks.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Automation API Tester, ideally within the financial services sector.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in writing automation code in Java without reliance on testing tools (e.g., SOAP UI).
  3. Over 5 years of experience in developing Integration Tests using frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, and RestAssured.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 3+ years of experience testing Restful APIs using Postman.
  2. 3+ years of experience in Load Testing, preferably with Locust and LoadRunner.
  3. Experience in building, integrating, and deploying web services (REST/SOAP/JSON/XML).
  4. Familiarity with SQL.
  5. Understanding of OpenAPI Specification (OAS)/Swagger, YAML, JSON.
  6. Experience with RDBMS such as Oracle or DB2, including SQL query knowledge.

Essential Soft Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are crucial.
  • Ability to simplify technical concepts for diverse stakeholders and influence decision-making.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science or a related field is preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
The best candidate will possess exceptional Java skills and a solid foundation in automation testing.

Interview Process:
The selection process includes a one-hour MS Teams video interview with the hiring manager and team members, which may include a technical skills assessment and a coding test. Candidates must have a computer with a functioning camera for the interview, and video must be enabled.
