Position Overview

The Flight Nurse/Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) plays a crucial role in providing essential medical care during air transportation. Reporting to the Medical Program Manager and the Medevac Operations Manager, the ACP is responsible for ensuring that patients receive the necessary medical attention while being transported to facilities equipped to handle their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care throughout the entire transport process for individuals requiring specialized medical attention
  • Collaborate closely with crew members, including pilots and flight followers, to ensure seamless operations
  • Maintain ongoing communication with internal and external teams to facilitate efficient Medevac transfers
  • Act as a representative for Perimeter Aviation LP, reporting to the Medical Program Manager, Medevac Operations Manager, and Medical Director
  • Ensure adherence to on-time performance standards
  • Complete all necessary equipment checklists according to established protocols
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications and Certifications

  • Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba or the College of Paramedics of Manitoba as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP)
  • Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Certification (PHTLS) or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Completion of a recognized critical care or emergency nursing program, or a minimum of two years of relevant nursing experience or an accredited ACP program
  • Child Abuse Registry check
  • Criminal Record check
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary transportation security clearances and authorizations
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Valid passport
  • Aeromedical Specialist training (CAMATA) preferred but not mandatory
  • Additional education and experience are advantageous
  • Previous experience as a Flight Nurse/ACP is a plus
  • Indigenous and Cultural Awareness Training is beneficial

Work Environment

  • Physically capable of fulfilling all job responsibilities.
  • Travel by aircraft and other means as required.
  • Assigned to remote bases during scheduled shifts, with potential changes based on operational needs.
  • On-call availability 24/7 during shifts.
  • Ability to lift, load, and secure patients, equipment, and baggage.
  • Manual dexterity for using computers and peripherals.
  • Work conducted both indoors and outdoors, requiring adaptability to various weather conditions.
  • Use of safety equipment as necessary, such as hearing protection and safety vests.
