Job Overview:

Part-Time Educator – Computer Systems Technician Program - Introduction to Enterprise Networking

As a part-time educator, you will play a crucial role in shaping the learning experience for students enrolled in the Computer Systems Technician Program. Your responsibilities will encompass:

Course Development:

  • Engaging with program administrators, fellow educators, advisory committees, and industry stakeholders to refine course content.
  • Establishing clear learning outcomes and ensuring their assessment and validation.
  • Determining effective teaching methodologies and required resources.
  • Integrating modern educational technologies to cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Reviewing and updating curriculum while participating in professional development during non-teaching periods.

Instructional Duties:

  • Delivering scheduled classes during the academic terms.
  • Ensuring students are informed about course objectives and assessment methods.
  • Providing academic support and guidance to students both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Creating a resource-rich learning environment that leverages educational technologies.
  • Assessing student performance and overseeing the evaluation of their work.
  • Fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere that promotes success for all students.

Academic Leadership:

  • Offering guidance to students and colleagues regarding educational assignments.
  • Participating in curriculum committees and departmental meetings.
  • Engaging with community members and promoting the program and department.
  • Staying updated on trends and practices in higher education.
  • Exemplifying the values of the institution – Caring, Learning, Integrity, and Respect.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a three-year advanced diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems/IT, or a related field; a Bachelor's or Graduate Degree is advantageous.
  • At least five years of relevant technical experience in computer systems technology and support.
  • Proven knowledge of strategies for student success in a postsecondary environment.
  • Experience with educational technologies.
  • Expertise in network scalability, dynamic routing protocols, and network security.
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCAI are considered assets.
  • Commitment to fostering the success of all learners.
  • Demonstrated teaching competencies as outlined in the Professor of the 21st Century document.
