JOB SUMMARY: This role is accountable for the upkeep and repair of various physical infrastructure and specialized machinery across a designated group of 7-Eleven/Stripes locations within a specific region. The position also involves providing on-the-job training and evaluation for new technicians. Service requests are initiated from the store through work orders directed to the appropriate technician. The position reports to the Area Facilities Manager.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct on-the-job training and evaluation of new technicians.
  • Perform follow-up assessments and training for new technicians after they have gained field experience.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities of a Technician 1 and demonstrate at least 75% proficiency in Technician II responsibilities outlined below.
  • Respond to service requests for a diverse range of in-store equipment, including but not limited to minor repairs of HVAC systems, refrigeration units, hot beverage machines (e.g., coffee, cappuccino), cold beverage systems (e.g., tea, fountain drinks), ice makers, and hot food equipment (e.g., fryers, griddles, ovens).
  • Address work orders related to plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance concerns.
  • Responsible for replacing 'plug and play' equipment as necessary.
  • The technician must be available to instruct, supervise, and support their assigned apprentices.
  • May oversee apprentices in specific areas of expertise.
  • If supervising apprentices, additional responsibilities will include maintaining official logbooks and completing required evaluations for each apprentice.
  • When working with an apprentice, ensure proper supervision and oversight of their tasks.
  • Submit hours and documentation required for apprentice certifications to the relevant trades board.
  • Periodically report on apprentice progress both in the field and in classroom settings.
  • Assist apprentices with online coursework if necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to safety policies and guidelines by apprentices during their training period.
  • Support and develop best practices for training initiatives.
  • Conduct site assessments, coaching, and follow-ups as needed.
  • Evaluate technicians' strengths and areas for improvement to facilitate coaching and training.
  • Contribute to the development of strategies that promote continuous growth and skill enhancement for apprentices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:EDUCATION: High School/GED
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 3+ years
YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: N/A
CERTIFICATIONS (required): Must possess a valid Refrigeration/Electrician/Plumbing/Appliance Journeyman level license issued by the relevant authority in the province where the work is performed.
LICENSES (required): Valid Driver's License
