Job Summary

Abacus Service Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Specialist to join our team. As an EMC Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of our products with various EMC and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the wiring and configuration of test systems to improve throughput efficiency for other test engineers.
  • Execute tests to EMC, Safety, Environmental, and Mechanical tests as per procedures and document results.
  • Write official test reports according to the accreditation program.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues with hardware/firmware engineers related to EMC Immunity or Environmental issues.
  • Handle product safety evaluation tests (UL, CE Low voltage directive testing, etc.).
  • Ensure that all activities are captured and executed according to a scheduling system.
  • Identify and report defects and issues detected during testing.
  • Assist in prioritizing reported defects and work with test lead and developers to facilitate closure.
  • Verify resolution of resolved defects.
  • Ensure test records are accurate and complete.
  • Participate in documentation and test procedure reviews.
  • Follow Abacus Service Corporation processes and standards.
  • Be part of the lab accreditation program and assist in its maintenance and improvements.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Electronic Engineering technologist or Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in EMC & Environmental testing and product Safety Testing and report writing to IEC and other EMC standards.
  • RF Emissions and Immunity experience and knowledge is a plus.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work both as part of a team and independently utilizing sound judgment to make decisions.
  • Experience with Client Protection & control devices or similar (Preferred).
  • Experience with Client substation automation products or similar (Preferred).
  • Must demonstrate abilities to coordinate and be well organized to achieve work schedule deadlines.
  • Must have soldering skills at the component level.
  • Must show or describe competency in the following PC software applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF writer, Outlook, and experience with CAD software is a strong asset.
