Clark Builders is seeking a motivated Pre-construction Co-op Student to join our team in Calgary. The Pre-construction Co-op Student will be responsible for providing support to both the Project Development and Estimating services team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and estimates for the managers' final approval prior to their presentation to potential clients at bid closing.
  • Provide input and assist in the establishment and maintenance of the project development record system, including prospective clients, estimates, proposal tracking, and project database.
  • Assist in the review of RFQ/RFP/EOI documents to ensure submissions are focused, profitable, articulate, and compliant.
  • Research client and project information to assist in proposals and identifying opportunities.
  • Set up the documentation control management system for pursuits.
  • Maintain unit price, productivity, knowledge, subtrade, and cost database.
  • Develop subcontractor work scopes for tendering.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, and owners on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and assist in the preparation of studies, materials methods, recommendations, and cost estimates.
  • Assist with preparing correspondence, meeting minutes, and other documentation.
  • Take part in tender, client, pursuit, project team meetings, and tender closings.
  • Attend training courses as required by Manager.
  • Perform accurate quantity takeoffs both manually and electronically.
  • Navigate software packages effectively.

Requirements:

  • Enrollment in a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Business, or Technical School (Architectural/Engineering Technologist/Construction Management).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite considered an asset.
