JOB OVERVIEWAre you seeking a position that aligns with your passion at a forward-thinking consulting organization? We are in search of a Lead Civil Engineering Specialist to become a part of our team in Kelowna, BC on a permanent full-time basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Oversee Civil Engineering initiatives, developing, managing, and producing engineering designs, assessments, and documentation for land development and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Facilitate and assist in the compilation of necessary documents for approvals, prepare development and construction cost assessments, tender documents, and contracts, while collaborating with team members to ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks.
- Evaluate the feasibility of pursuing proposals by engaging team members and selecting appropriate proposal writers.
- Offer non-technical guidance and support to team members.
- Identify and implement process enhancements with the broader team to boost efficiency and productivity.
- Manage client relationships and projects to ensure client expectations and project performance objectives are met.
- Cultivate new business opportunities and establish strategic partnerships with key clients, agencies, and collaborators.
- Provide construction contract oversight for high-value or significant projects.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure effective group operations.
- Complete the necessary safety documentation for each project and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures by the team.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate team members, contributing technical expertise to conceptual design, detailed design, and construction oversight activities.
- Participate in weekly and monthly reporting, as well as design and team meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Some travel throughout British Columbia may be required in this position.
- A minimum of a BSc degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution with at least 12 years of relevant Canadian work experience.
- Must be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer in BC.
- Proficiency in designing all municipal civil infrastructure, including but not limited to sites, roads, water, wastewater, stormwater, and grading.
- Proven success in leading project teams of engineers and technologists.
- Strong technical writing capabilities for reports and proposals.
- Excellent Project Management skills; preference given to those with PMP certification.
- Strong Contract Administration skills; preference given to those with MMCD CCA certification.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage deadlines, and possess exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic with a commitment to achieving success for the firm, the client, and the team.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) and access to a vehicle.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented skills along with exceptional time management abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
- Familiarity with software packages for roads, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
- Experience in preparing stormwater management plans (ISMPs), master drainage plans (MDP), site stormwater management plans, and watershed plans.
- Experience with water & wastewater treatment processes, piping systems, and pumping systems.
- Understanding of environmental permitting, legislation, and regulations.
- Familiarity with relevant Professional Practice Guidelines.
