Registered Nurse - Surgical Services

Key Responsibilities

Effectively manage a diverse workload in a dynamic environment. Address and resolve challenges in a constructive and respectful manner. Utilize sound professional judgment and adhere to best practice guidelines. Promote a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all by following patient and staff safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

Valid Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Completion of a perioperative certification course or its equivalent coursework.

Additional Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of recent nursing experience (within the last 3 years) in an acute care environment. Demonstrated clinical expertise in patient-centered care, including strong skills in patient assessment, care planning, education, and documentation. Experience with electronic medical records. Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Exceptional interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and colleagues. Proven decision-making, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities. Ability to take initiative and adapt to new or unforeseen circumstances. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications

One year of relevant experience. Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program. Certification with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA). Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Recent completion of a physical assessment course. Membership in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario (RNAO) or Canadian Nurses Association (CNA). Proficiency in a second language.
