About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our team at Bit Quill | An Improving Company. As a key member of our data and cloud team, you will be responsible for leading the development of complex features and driving them to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently design and implement moderately complex features, including implementation, testing, and release.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in multiple technologies, including C++, Java, C#, JavaScript/Typescript, Node.js, and Python.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to both our team and customers.
  • Ensure high code quality and actively participate in code reviews.
  • Write complete and correct tests for all development projects.
  • Lead the team for assigned client projects to successful technical and deliverable outcomes.
  • Take ownership of projects, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet schedules.
  • Gather specifications from clients and author scope of work documents.
  • Foster highly productive collaboration within the team on assigned projects.
  • Follow and lead efforts in improving company best practices, knowledge base, policies, and processes.
  • Lead by example in pursuing projects that require learning new technologies and continually expand skills.
Requirements
  • Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • ~4+ years experience in a technical leadership role within a team.
  • ~7+ years of industry experience with object-oriented programming in C++ or Java.
  • Development experience on Windows and macOS, Linux.
  • Experience documenting software design.
  • Experience defining and estimating software development requirements.
  • Experience writing tests, both unit and integration.
  • Proven record of successful on-time delivery of projects with a high degree of predictability and quality.
  • Experience mentoring others in design, coding, reviews, test, and software development best practices.
  • Experience with Big Data and/or NoSQL.
  • Experience in SQL, databases, and database connectivity.
  • Experience with remote customer stakeholders and development teams.
