Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned compliance engineer specializing in product integrity to join our engineering team. The successful applicant will be integral to a product integrity unit responsible for ensuring global regulatory and commercial compliance for our advanced packet optical transport and switching solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborating with senior compliance specialists, you will work alongside product development teams to establish regulatory and commercial testing criteria, develop and manage compliance initiatives, and provide guidance on product compliance risk mitigation activities. Your role will also involve advising on testing requirements for customer laboratory interactions, including design, documentation, and marking necessities to meet regulatory and commercial conformity.
General Duties
- Collaborate with EMC engineers and design leads to define initial product integrity architectural requirements in areas such as EMC, safety, and homologation.
- Partner with product development leads to outline and strategize testing programs that validate compliance with relevant EMC, safety, and commercial standards.
- Work closely with testing partners during compliance testing to ensure adherence and obtain necessary reports and certifications.
- Support sales and field personnel with customer inquiries related to compliance issues, bid proposals, and conformity assessments.
- Assist global account teams with product homologation processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Engage with design teams, including electrical, mechanical, thermal, and industrial design.
- Collaborate with account and systems engineering teams to support customer needs.
- Liaise with external testing facilities and EMC/safety specialists.
- Coordinate with finance leads for quarterly and annual budget oversight.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with global/international EMC standards, product safety standards, and commercial standards within the telecommunications sector.
- Proficient understanding of global/international EMC standards applicable to ITE and Telecom Networking, including CISPR 32 / EN 55032, CISPR 35 / EN55035, CISPR 24 / EN 55024, FCC Part 15, ICES-003, ETSI EN, IEC/EN 61000-X-Y.
- Familiarity with ITE product safety standards is preferred, including IEC/UL/EN, IEC/EN, IEC/EN, IEC/EN.
- Knowledge of various country approvals, regulatory marks, and homologation processes is advantageous.
- Understanding of commercial standards/specifications in the telecommunications field is preferred, such as Telcordia GR-63-CORE, Telcordia GR-1089-CORE, Telcordia GR-3108, Telcordia GR-487, ETSI EN X-Y, ETSI EN Y.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills are essential.
- Familiarity with communication protocols (OTN, Ethernet, SONET, Fiber Channel) is a plus.
