Job Summary:
The Living Sky School Division No. 202 is seeking a dedicated and passionate Graduation Coach to join our team at Cut Knife Community School. As a key member of our school community, the successful candidate will work closely with First Nations students, teachers, and families to provide the necessary support and guidance to ensure students achieve their academic goals and graduate successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build Relationships and Trust: Establish and maintain strong relationships with First Nations students, teachers, and families to understand their unique needs and challenges.
- Monitor Progress and Data: Track student progress, credit attainment, and graduation rates to identify areas of improvement and inform support strategies.
- Co-Construct Success Plans: Collaborate with students, teachers, and families to develop personalized success plans that align with students' goals and aspirations.
- Connect Students to Resources: Identify and connect students with relevant resources, both within and outside the school, to support their academic and personal growth.
- Support Cultural Activities: Foster a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment by supporting and promoting First Nations cultural activities and events.
- Professional Learning and Development: Participate in professional learning opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as education, social work, psychology, and health.
Requirements:
- Education and Experience: A Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent experience in education, social work, psychology, health, or a related field.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, teachers, families, and community members.
- Initiative and Independence: Ability to work independently and take initiative to drive student success and support.
- Cultural Competence: Strong understanding of First Nations cultures, histories, and experiences, with a commitment to cultural responsiveness and inclusivity.
