Logistics Technician II

Position Overview:
The University of Toronto is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Technician II within the Facilities Management & Planning department. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient handling and distribution of materials and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for a variety of tasks, which include but are not limited to:
- Loading and unloading documents, materials, and equipment, ensuring proper organization and storage.
- Delivering items to designated areas, either by driving or walking, as required.
- Identifying and managing items that require urgent delivery or special handling.
- Receiving incoming materials and ensuring they meet quality standards, while addressing any discrepancies with the supervisor.
- Managing customer inquiries and directing complaints to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Processing materials for both incoming and outgoing shipments, adhering to established tracking and packaging protocols.
- Maintaining accurate records of received items and managing inventory systems.
- Conducting periodic inventory counts to ensure accuracy.
- Operating vehicles or forklifts for delivery purposes, as necessary.
- Responding to inquiries regarding product specifications and delivery timelines.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Completion of secondary education or equivalent; post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
Other Requirements: Candidates must possess a valid provincial class "G" driver's license and demonstrate the physical capability to perform the duties required, including frequent heavy lifting. Effective communication skills in English (both oral and written) are essential, along with basic computer proficiency and a forklift certification. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are necessary, along with a willingness to learn and attention to detail.
Work Schedule: The position operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Note: This is a term position with a specified duration.
