Core Responsibilities:

The Construction Surveyor/Project Technician will collaborate with team members to execute essential tasks during rehabilitation, construction within an existing Transfer Station, and conveyor installation in the Conveyor Ramp:

  • Develop construction layouts for anchor bolt placements, grid lines, formwork, concrete piers, and footings in subterranean settings.
  • Conduct surveying and verify column verticality using a total station during the erection of structural steel in underground conditions.
  • Establish hanger locations.
  • Assist in the alignment of overhead crane rails during installation.
  • Prepare headings for the rehabilitation aspect of the project.
  • Perform routine survey checks to ensure precision and accuracy in mine survey data, ensuring control points and survey stations are correctly integrated.
  • Set up new survey stations as necessary.
  • Support the creation of red line mark-ups throughout the construction process.
  • Generate regular survey reports for underground construction and rehabilitation activities.
  • Formulate and implement relevant processes and procedures.
  • Assist QA/QC personnel as needed.
  • Contribute to daily and weekly reporting as required.
  • Specify and procure materials and supplies necessary for surveying tasks.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and adherence to company policies while complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and local regulations.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Actively engage in the team safety program, promoting a culture of safety and innovation.
  • Report any equipment deemed damaged or unsafe to the supervisor.
  • Collaborate closely with crew members to foster a cohesive working environment.
  • Ensure all procedures and work standards are understood and followed consistently.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in the workplace.
  • Utilize all safety systems as outlined in the site safety management framework.

Pre-Employment Qualifications:

  • Completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical assessments.
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • Mining Technician Diploma with experience in underground construction and mine surveying.
  • Completion of Basic Underground Common Core training.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant underground mine surveying experience.
  • Proficiency in mine engineering software such as Mine Cad Software, AutoCAD, Total Station, and MOSS.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Fall Arrest protocols.
  • Familiarity with Lifesaver TM-60 (self-rescuer).
  • High level of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Awareness of innovative technologies including Mine CAD Software, AutoCAD, Total Station, and MOSS.
  • Strong organizational skills with effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in underground construction surveying.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in remote environments; self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
