Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Family Medicine Physician to fill ongoing shifts, including daytime, Wednesday evenings, and Saturdays. Both full and half-day opportunities are available.
Practice Environment:
The clinic is committed to delivering trauma-informed and culturally sensitive healthcare to a unique patient demographic. Candidates must possess a methadone license and demonstrate proficiency in prescribing opioid agonist therapy.
About the Clinic:
The Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society Clinic operates as a comprehensive family practice, supported by a multidisciplinary team that includes a psychiatrist, mental health counselor, elders, dietitian, social worker, and a nurse who provides various services such as blood work, immunizations, wound care, pap smear screenings, and STI treatments. Our clinic currently employs eight physicians and offers both virtual and in-person consultations. We primarily serve an urban Indigenous population, alongside other community members facing challenges such as chronic illnesses (HIV, HCV, Diabetes, COPD) amid issues related to poverty, homelessness, substance use disorders, and mental health.
Logistics:
We provide free parking for physicians and secure bike storage. The operational hours for shifts are as follows: Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM; Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM; and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
Additional Information:
We are looking for physicians who can offer trauma-informed and culturally safe care to our patient population. Candidates should have completed opioid agonist therapy training or be willing to undertake this training with our clinic.
