About Us:
At Yukon University Research Centre, we are committed to generating and disseminating knowledge that enhances our understanding of the world. Role Overview:
As a pivotal member of the YSPOR (Yukon Strategy for Patient Oriented Research) Unit, the Senior Research Professional will oversee, assist, and execute patient-centered research initiatives throughout the Yukon. This role encompasses a comprehensive approach to patient-oriented research, engaging communities and individuals with lived experiences.
The successful candidate will lead demonstration projects in collaboration with YSPOR's First Nation Community Research Coordinators. They will work alongside NGOs, First Nations, and governmental bodies to bolster research capacity, including formulating research inquiries and grant proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop research agreements with First Nations and actively involve People with Lived Experience (PWLE) throughout the research journey.
- Facilitate training in patient-oriented research.
- Mentor students and guide them in analyzing data while collaborating with Indigenous organizations and governments.
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree, preferably at the PhD level, in a health-related field, along with substantial experience in mentoring students and conducting data analysis.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required for candidates without a PhD.
Essential Skills:
- Exceptional project and time management abilities, capable of multitasking and meeting deadlines under pressure.
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian health and social science research landscape, with extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Proven experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and various organizations on research initiatives.
Desired Attributes:
- Experience in designing and executing complex research projects within an academic setting.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse partners.
- Familiarity with Yukon First Nation history, practices, and values.
- Proven ability to create and supervise student research projects.
- Capacity to work flexible hours as needed to meet project demands.
- Innovative mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Proficiency in a computerized work environment and various software applications.
