Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and refine geological models to support resource estimation and ensure accuracy.
  • Estimate mineral resources with precision and accuracy, using industry-leading techniques and software.
  • Conduct thorough site investigations and audits to ensure compliance and quality standards.
  • Lead quality assurance and quality control reviews on various projects, ensuring high-quality results.
  • Contribute to and critically review technical reports and studies, providing expert insights and recommendations.
  • Collaborate on the preparation and definition of scope for geological mining studies, including Preliminary Economic Assessments (PEA), Pre-Feasibility Studies (PFS), and Feasibility Studies (FS).
  • Drive business growth by promoting WSP Canada's capabilities and attracting new clients.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, field reviews, and project oversight, often on short notice and across various locations.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support project success.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in geology from a recognized university and/or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 10+ years of resource estimation experience in a variety of commodities and deposit types, preferably within a consulting environment.
  • Registered as a Professional Geologist in Canada or equivalent.
  • Familiar with international and public disclosure and reporting codes, including NI 43-101, S-K 1300, JORC, SAMREC, SME Guide, Competent Persons Reports, Mineral Resource Reports, etc.
  • Skills in geostatistics and resources estimations.
  • Knowledge of mining fundamentals and techniques, rock mechanics, and mineral processing.
  • Excellent knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, mapping & geological database software: Datamine, Surpac, Minesight, Vulcan, Leapfrog Geo, Isatis, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with scripts and macros.
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner.
  • Flexibility to travel as required for project work.
  • Fluent in the English language with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and complete tasks with limited supervision, make informed decisions, and take responsibility on technical matters.
  • Possess a team player attitude and be able to work in a project team environment.
