About the Role:

Borrowell is in search of a Product Design Manager to assist in realizing our mission of making financial prosperity attainable for everyone. You will engage in understanding consumer financial decision-making and design personalized products that empower users to optimize their key choices related to credit scores, financial products, spending, and saving. Reporting to the Group Product Manager, you will collaborate across functions with our Product, Engineering, and business leaders to identify and address user challenges.

In this position, you will lead and mentor our team of Product Designers while also actively participating in your team to develop data-driven solutions that address user needs and contribute to business outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future vision of our products while ensuring effective collaboration and execution with our cross-functional teams. As the Product Design Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by creating products that facilitate financial stability for millions of Canadians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as both a designer and a manager, overseeing a team of 1 product designer to craft innovative financial experiences across various platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, data scientists, and business development leaders to formulate and implement strategic roadmaps.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to guide product development from problem identification to launch, ensuring alignment with user needs and market trends.
  • Promote a data-informed design approach, prioritizing features and enhancements based on user feedback, market research, and business objectives.
  • Influence the product roadmap and advocate for a user-centered design culture.
  • Possess 3+ years of experience in B2C product design with a proven history of delivering successful products from concept to launch.
  • Have at least 1 year of experience managing Product Designers.
  • Maintain a design portfolio that showcases a deep understanding of user challenges, solutions-oriented thinking to maximize business impact, and a robust end-to-end design process from initial sketches to detailed designs.
  • Be proficient with contemporary design tools (e.g., Figma).
  • Have experience utilizing product development methodologies, design thinking principles, and working in an agile environment.
  • Exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, PivotTables, Tableau, PowerBI, or equivalent; we utilize Looker.
