Job Title: Electrical Facilities Engineer

Join the University of Saskatchewan's Facilities Sustainability & Engineering team as an Electrical Facilities Engineer. This permanent, full-time position is responsible for providing leadership and support for the University's electrical engineering functions, primarily focusing on electrical systems within our numerous buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the effective and reliable operation and maintenance of the USask electrical infrastructure.
  • Plan and coordinate electrical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with University standards and codes.
  • Develop and regularly update University Guidelines, Standards and Specifications related to electrical engineering.
  • Collaborate with various University departments and external partners to apply technical and analytical electrical engineering expertise.
  • Conduct studies and reviews of electrical systems to recommend repair and replacement strategies.
  • Support Deferred Maintenance planning through review of annual building and infrastructure condition assessments.
  • Engage industry partners to learn of new technologies and provide recommendations to the Engineering Manager.
  • Design and develop electrical systems, including lighting, power, revenue-grade metering, security, and fire alarm systems.
  • Provide guidance and consultation to facility electrical distribution power system designs and submittals.
  • Respond to information requests in support of projects impacting the facility electrical distribution system.
Requirements:
  • A degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum of eight years buildings electrical engineering experience.
  • Project experience for at least three projects applicable to USask's building stock.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sustainability principles and familiarity with LEED project documentation requirements.
