About the Role:

We are currently seeking a Property Underwriter to handle new and renewal business. Reporting to the Vice President, Central Property Underwriting, you will evaluate and underwrite a diverse portfolio of business (new and renewal) using The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within authorized levels on challenging projects, ensuring exceptional service to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyze new and renewal business within approved underwriting authority.
  • Oversee a designated portfolio of accounts.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Assess accounts to align with the organization's risk appetite, while also considering business potential.
  • Promote other business lines to increase product diversity.
  • Travel for business purposes as necessary.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area.
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
  • Familiarity with the insurance industry and legal and regulatory landscape.
  • Understanding of underwriting principles, methods, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.

Preferred:

  • 1-2 years of property underwriting experience.
  • Analytical mindset and curious nature.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach.
  • Knowledge of insurance industry and legal and regulatory environment.
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering reports.
  • Experience with rating engines and Nat Cat modeling.
  • Certification in Insurance Industry (F/CIP, CRM, RPLU, etc) is advantageous.
