We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Meat Department Team Lead to join our team at Sunterra Market. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading, inspiring, and guiding a cohesive team to achieve exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate and assist in ordering products and supplies.
  • Maintain records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage.
  • Follow Sunterra Standardized Recipes and all other related Sunterra Policies.
  • Ensure products and customer service meet Sunterra quality standards.
  • Participate in the selection of new team members and assist in the development of policies, procedures, and budgets.
  • Control and maintain records of inventory, monitor product cost, and inform management.
  • Train in resolving customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Inspect and store meat & seafood in cooler and train in complete cooker checks.
  • Assist in meat cutting duties, including cutting, deboning, or grinding pieces of meat, poultry, and fish.
  • Weigh, wrap, and display meat & seafood products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Team lead, Assistant Managers and Market Manager.
Requirements:
  • Self-motivated and solution-oriented.
  • Good communicator and able to work well with others and convey enthusiasm.
  • Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 40 pounds.
  • Passion for food.
  • Meat department experience in a retail setting is an asset.
  • Charcuterie/Meat Cutting Certification or culinary focused post-secondary is an asset.
  • Post Secondary Culinary training is considered an asset.
  • WHIMS certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training).
  • Food Safety certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training).
Working Conditions:
  • Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
  • Caution while working with meat cutters and machinery and sharp knives.
  • May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
  • Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
  • Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
