About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Meat Cutter to join our team at Great Choice Meat and Poultry. As a key member of our retail team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of meat products for our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and Prepare Meats: Clean meats to prepare for processing or cutting, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and safety.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by preparing special cuts of meat ordered by customers, answering questions, and offering product recommendations.
  • Meat Preparation: Cut, trim, and prepare standard cuts of meat, ensuring they are accurately weighed and priced.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory levels, including weighing and pricing meat products.
  • Store Displays: Prepare special displays of meats, poultry, and fish products to attract customers and promote sales.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all meat products meet our quality standards, including checking for freshness, quality, and presentation.
Work Environment

As a Meat Cutter at Great Choice Meat and Poultry, you will work in a fast-paced retail environment, standing for extended periods and requiring attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.

Support for Newcomers and Refugees
  • Settlement Support: Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and refugees, including housing, transportation, and other essential services.
  • Language Training: Support social and labour market integration by facilitating access to language training, skills training, and other community resources.
  • Mentorship: Offer mentorship programs that pair newcomers and refugees with experienced employees, promoting social and cultural integration.
Support for Youths
  • On-the-Job Training: Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth, providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the retail industry.
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Provide mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for youth, helping them to develop their skills and confidence.
Support for Veterans
  • Talent Acquisition: Recruit Veterans and other candidates with military experience through targeted hiring initiatives, including job fairs and outreach programs.
Support for Indigenous People
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Offer mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers, promoting social and cultural integration.
  • Community Engagement: Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations, promoting cultural understanding and respect.
