Job Title: Senior Communications Advisor

BC Ferries is seeking a highly skilled Senior Communications Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing effective communication strategies to support our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to support corporate and external communications
  • Draft and develop a variety of communications materials, including news releases, positioning notes, memos, presentations, reports, speeches, and correspondence
  • Manage workload while supporting several special projects simultaneously, working in close collaboration with project managers and key stakeholders
  • Proactively identify story ideas and pitches to appropriate news media, and act as corporate spokesperson from time to time
  • Rotate handling of the media line on weekends/after hours in the event of an emergency
  • Assist with special event planning
Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in journalism, public relations, applied communications, or a related discipline
  • Experience in a public relations or communications role with high visibility in the public eye
  • Experience in coordinating day-to-day print and electronic communications services, including the preparation of information materials
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, research, and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and in a team, with previous leadership or management responsibilities considered an asset
