MDA Space is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Co-op Student to support the Manufacturing Engineering department in a variety of tasks. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating manufacturing methods and processes, supporting improvement processes, and contributing to product and process quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate manufacturing methods and processes to determine the most safe and efficient way to produce and test products.
- Support improvement processes to enhance company manufacturing efficiency by analyzing workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Contribute to product and process quality by setting up and assisting with testing methods and equipment, testing finished products and process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
- Participate in product development meetings and assist with implementation of specified recommendations for product design changes to enhance manufacturing and assembly.
- Support standardization initiatives, such as implementing 5S practice, streamlining processes through documentation and lean optimization, and developing quick-win solutions to improve from current state into future state.
Requirements/Education:
Interested candidates should have a general Manufacturing Engineering skills typical of a first/second/third year college student or related field experience and a combination of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, knowledge or understanding of MRP systems, lean principles, design for manufacture, and design for assembly processes.
Security Clearance:
Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
