Job Summary:

The Heavy Duty Mechanic is a critical role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our commercial transport vehicles. As a skilled tradesperson, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing complex vehicle systems, as well as performing preventative maintenance services to prevent downtime and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and diagnose faults in commercial transport vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems
  • Perform repairs and maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrications, and tune-ups
  • Review and discuss work orders with supervisors, and sign off on repairs performed
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including skid-steers, vacuum pumps, hydraulics, and fork loaders
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on efficiency and productivity
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and quality control measures

Requirements:

  • Valid Alberta Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certificate or an interprovincial Heavy Duty Mechanic Red Seal Certification
  • Valid Alberta Commercial Vehicle Safety Inspection License
  • Valid Class 1 Driver's License with air brake endorsement (an asset)
  • 3 years of experience in commercial fleet vehicle repairs or a similar environment (an asset)
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematic drawings, and manuals
  • Ability to frequently move, carry, lift, push, and pull equipment up to 50 lbs without assistance
