About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cook to join our culinary team. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our residents. You will work closely with our Dietary Manager to ensure that all meals are prepared to the highest standards and that our residents receive excellent service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals for residents, including evening meals and special diets
  • Monitor food supplies and equipment, and report any issues to the Dietary Manager
  • Direct and supervise Dietary Aides in food preparation and serving activities
  • Assume responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Manager
  • Maintain accurate records of menu changes, delivery receipts, and temperature checks

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting the requirements of the OLTCH Act
  • Experience in institutional large quantity cooking
  • Ability to work safely and follow established safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to read and write English, and understand moderately complex verbal and written instructions in English
  • Proven ability to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment
