Alberta Health Services (AHS) offers a unique campus setting that encompasses a range of services including inpatient, outpatient, wellness, prevention, and public health education for the community.
The medical/surgical unit consists of 36 beds, catering to both General Medical and General Surgical patients. Under the guidance of the Unit Manager, the Registered Nurse is tasked with evaluating patient needs, providing education, and optimizing surgical procedures through the Nursing Process. The Registered Nurse also engages in peer education, contributes to medical and nursing research initiatives, and upholds professional accountability in all interactions with the public. Demonstrating leadership skills, the Registered Nurse ensures that practices comply with legislative requirements and adhere to the standards set forth by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) code of ethics.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), your role encompasses a diverse array of nursing services aimed at patients, families, communities, and populations, while prioritizing their safety and well-being. You will employ nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, while also teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families.
In this position, you will take on a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance. Your commitment to providing safe, quality, patient-centered care will reflect the shared vision and values of AHS.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of specific free courses is required.
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience in a charge role on an acute inpatient unit.
- Previous experience in precepting, orienting, and/or mentoring new staff and/or students.
- Effective patient education experience (both written and verbal).
- Proficiency in clinical assessment skills and critical thinking.
- Ability to build relationships with patients and families, engaging them in their care.
