Health and Safety Manager

Join Agnico Eagle, a leading mining company, as a Health and Safety Superintendent. This role is part of the Health and Safety Department, reporting to the Health & Safety General Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure safety standards are maintained, tracking and investigating accidents, and compiling statistics.
- Responsible for induction, training, and organizing required training to meet department standards.
- Observe and instruct on safe work practices and procedures.
- Ensure the site executes and complies with the elements of the Health and Safety Management programs.
- Prepare safety-related reports and update H&S Statistics.
- Develop training initiatives as part of the health, safety, and wellness of the Agnico Eagle H&S team.
- Identify, monitor, and correct health and safety hazards.
- Provide technical advice and guidance on health and safety issues.
- Monitor employee adherence to safety regulations and enforce proper health and safety protocols.
- Promote safe and healthy working conditions and recommend ways to improve overall safety conditions by developing strategies to control risk in the workplace.
- Perform periodic site inspections to assess risk and ensure all safety regulations and protocols are adhered to and meet applicable safety standards.
- Understand the health and safety goals and strategies for the company and work with the HSR Manager to develop targets to achieve fiscal, strategic, and legislative requirements.
- Responsible and accountable for supporting operations in terms of safety meetings, huddles, develop and manage procedures and standards.
- Provide guidelines for safe work, including the development and review of standards, procedures, and JHA's, ensuring all health and safety measures are being taken and accounted for.
- Support of inspections and audits for the HSR department, JHSC, and approved requests of other committees/depts that require inspections/audits.
- Manage incident reporting and structure of incoming data.
- Capacity to develop Health and Safety standards, procedures, and conducting Job Hazard Analysis.
- Ensure site compliance to local (Provincial) and National legislation.
- Ability to deliver induction and orientation of new employees.
- Inspect, audit, and evaluation of health and safety management systems, workplace conditions, equipment, and practices.
- Development of health and safety materials required for presentations, including but not limited to videos, power points, etc.
- High School Diploma.
- Degree or Diploma in OHS is considered an asset.
- A solid background in the Mining Operations or a combination of suitable experience is required.
- Working knowledge of EHS software.
- A solid knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants.
- Trade certification or designation is considered an asset.
- CRSP Designation is considered an asset.
- Train-the-Trainer certification is considered an asset.
- Leadership experience and training is considered an asset.
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
