Position Overview
The Integration & Application Development Manager leverages extensive expertise in technical solutions, application development, and integration tools to fulfill business requirements while ensuring alignment between business processes and information technology. This role encompasses both technical and functional knowledge across various integration domains and business subprocesses. The incumbent is tasked with identifying solutions, designing integrations, and ensuring compliance with business needs and IT architecture standards. Additionally, this position drives process enhancements through collaboration with IT and business partners, serving as the principal technical manager for all related projects and research. For most projects, the incumbent may also take on the role of IT Project Manager, focusing on solutions that address current and future business needs while potentially overseeing the work of others. As a subject matter expert, providing technical coaching and fostering peer development is a vital aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and management of solution architecture for application development, including Application to Application and Business to Business integration, utilizing Enterprise Service Bus, API Management platforms, Data Virtualization technology, and SAP's Business Technology Platform.
- Establish and align global standards, principles, and best practices for application development and integration to optimize solutions within McCormick.
- Act as the functional liaison between business and technical teams regarding application development and integrations across various technology projects, defining systems scope and objectives based on business needs.
- Promote continuous improvement by challenging existing solutions to enhance performance, reduce complexity, and lower Total Cost of Ownership.
- May serve as a team lead, overseeing project budgets to ensure adherence to expense and capital allocations, while planning and directing the work of employees and contractors on moderate to complex systems applications.
- Engage with external groups to gain insights into emerging trends and potential new tools or techniques.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Chair the Integration Architecture Governance Board, facilitating the review and approval of architectural change proposals from various teams.
- Coordinate with Systems Integration vendor partners for the delivery of application development and integration tasks outlined in deployment scopes.
- Participate in the Technical Integration Leadership team to assess group priorities and identify necessary actions for each workstream.
- Collaborate with the Application Managed Service partner for the transition of Application Development & Integration objects post-Stabilization phase, ensuring an effective knowledge transfer plan is established.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 10 years in a similar architectural role, with experience across multiple system platforms.
- Proficiency in integration within a complex enterprise-wide SAP S4 ecosystem, with a solid understanding of SAP's Business Technology Platform.
- Strong awareness of Enterprise Service Bus, API management platforms, and Data Virtualization technology.
- Deep understanding of core business functions and their implications for system integrations and application development.
- Proven track record in architecting solutions for application development and integrations within an SAP enterprise landscape, including cloud applications.
- Demonstrated project management skills throughout the project lifecycle, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
- In-depth technical and functional knowledge across multiple business areas, with the ability to assess the impact of requested changes.
- Understanding of the relationship between technical development and organizational strategy, with experience managing project budgets.
- Ability to cultivate effective working relationships.
- Strong communication and diplomacy skills to guide and influence stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, capable of engaging with business stakeholders and senior executives.
- Proven ability to analyze complex problems and deliver solutions promptly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture framework certification.
- SAP certification.
- PMP certification.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Expertise in Enterprise Service Bus and Data Virtualization, preferably in CPG or FMCG sectors.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to challenge technical solutions to enhance performance and maximize value.
