Role Overview
The Radiation Therapy Department at Niagara Health is a progressive unit dedicated to delivering advanced treatment planning, simulation, and external beam radiation therapy. Our facility is equipped with three Linear Accelerators and a CT simulator. As a Radiation Therapy Specialist, you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, Oncology Nurses, Administrative Staff, and Health Care Aides, to ensure a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that aligns with our organizational values.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer radiation treatments as prescribed by Radiation Oncologists, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
- Maintain compliance with the College of Medical Radiation Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) Standards of Practice.
- Document technical and patient-related treatment information accurately.
- Engage in reflective practice, critical thinking, and education to enhance problem-solving capabilities.
- Participate actively in quality assurance initiatives and undertake additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Radiation Technology Program specializing in Radiation Therapy.
- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario in Radiation Therapy (M.R.T(T)).
- Active membership with CMRITO.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with ongoing re-certification mandatory.
- Exceptional technical, communication, organizational, and patient assessment skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated adaptability, compassion, and initiative in patient and family interactions.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Commitment to applying Niagara Health values and professional standards in patient care.
- Familiarity with computer systems and general office software.
- Proficiency in both English and French is considered an asset.
- Consistent and regular attendance is required.
