About the Role

The Underwriting Portfolio Specialist is a key member of our team, responsible for overseeing key accounts in the Auto Warranty and Guarantee sector of our Specialty department. This role requires building relationships with external partners, managing day-to-day operations of accounts, drafting new program structures and contracts, identifying trends, and ensuring the profitability of accounts within established underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships with claims, legal, actuarial, business intelligence & analytics, IT, and accounting teams to provide ongoing analysis.
  • Utilize knowledge of auto components and/or legal contracts to evaluate and design creative auto warranty and guarantee programs.
  • Ensure quality risk selection and pricing to maximize underwriting profitability and increase market share in the consumer warranty and guarantee and related products area.
  • Price coverage, draft agreements, monitor the performance of accounts, and monitor trends.
Requirements
  • Underwriting Property & Casualty experience, with a focus on Auto Warranty and Service Contract.
  • Creating and understanding contract wordings.
  • Creating and maintaining Microsoft Excel-based spreadsheets and workbooks.
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting principles, including earning factors, reserves, account receivables, and account payables.
  • Monitoring trends and developments, identifying areas of concern regarding loss ratio.
