The Cement Safety Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in promoting and enhancing safety, health, and risk management protocols at our cement manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the management team and health & safety professionals to ensure the effective implementation and continuous enhancement of safety and health protocols. Assess training and program needs alongside management to align with health and safety management system requirements. Facilitate safety communications and initiatives that support the overall health and safety management framework. Maintain a visible presence on-site to provide constructive feedback through coaching and mentoring to both employees and management. Assist in evaluating health and safety improvement objectives, identifying areas for enhancement, and formulating action plans. Aid in developing safe operational procedures for high-risk activities across manufacturing and maintenance operations. Support the collection and analysis of safety and training key performance indicators. Research and recommend new safety products, ensuring they meet effectiveness and cost-efficiency standards. Design and deliver safety training programs, including site-specific materials such as orientations and toolbox discussions. Foster positive relationships with site management, employees, and local regulatory bodies. Guide management and staff on compliance with health and safety regulations and internal management systems. Monitor the completion of audit actions and facilitate the removal of barriers to ensure timely execution. Organize and conduct health and safety audits, including internal assessments. Assist management in ensuring a safe and prompt return to work for injured employees, collaborating with HR on accommodation needs. Complete necessary documentation related to workplace injuries. Support the industrial hygiene program, focusing on hazards such as silica, asbestos, noise, and heat stress. Manage safety documentation systems to ensure accurate record-keeping of investigations and contractor compliance. Provide expert guidance on occupational health and safety regulations and corporate safety standards. Actively engage in health and safety committee activities and maintain communication with local safety authorities. Assist in conducting investigations into workplace incidents and potential safety breaches.Specific Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to work independently with a mature and responsible attitude. Capacity to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong interpersonal skills to engage with individuals across various levels and backgrounds. Ability to influence and cultivate collaborative relationships. Self-motivated and proactive in approach. Proficient in computer systems and web-based applications, including safety management software. Competent in Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with Google Suite is advantageous. Solid understanding of relevant provincial safety regulations.Required Experience:
Prior experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, particularly in health and safety roles. Health and safety training or certification is preferred. Minimum of three years of experience in health and safety management.Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 per year
