About the Opportunity

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our dynamic team within the Women's General Forensic Unit (WGFU) at our new McCain Complex Care Building. This state-of-the-art facility offers a safe and therapeutic environment for women receiving specialized care.

Your Role as a Personal Support Worker

Reporting to the Manager, you will work collaboratively with interprofessional teams, providing essential support to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing personalized care and assistance with daily living activities (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
  • Accompanying clients on appointments, outings, and program activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Maintaining close observation of clients, documenting behavioral observations and responses to interventions.
  • Implementing least restrictive strategies to prevent restraint and seclusion, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Contributing to the overall functioning of the unit by maintaining a clean, organized, and therapeutic atmosphere.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will possess:

  • A Personal Support Care Worker Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges and/or addictions.
  • Knowledge of responsive behavior management techniques and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to providing compassionate and person-centered care.
