Position Overview: The Cloud Infrastructure Network Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, construction, and management of both Cloud-based and on-premise data center infrastructure. This position will serve as a vital link between corporate networks and Cloud networks, ensuring seamless integration and operation.

Location Requirements: Candidates must reside in the Ottawa-Gatineau area or be open to relocating. Relocation assistance will be available for eligible candidates. A commitment to being on-site three days a week is required, along with the ability to obtain necessary security clearances.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Continuously assess cloud applications, architectural designs, and industry best practices.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain Azure networking solutions, focusing on hybrid networking, connectivity, routing, security, and private access to Azure services.
  • Deploy networking solutions utilizing the Azure Portal and various methods, including PowerShell, Terraform, Azure CLI, and Azure templates.
  • Collaborate with solutions architects, application developers, cloud administrators, cybersecurity experts, and DevOps engineers to deliver comprehensive Azure solutions.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and security, while auditing existing network designs.
  • Implement and uphold security best practices within the cloud environment.
  • Deploy and maintain Cloud, WAN, LAN, Wireless, Voice, and Video solutions, including servers, routers, switches, gateways, and associated hardware.
  • Communicate network maintenance schedules, operational status, and downtime to users and management in accordance with established procedures.
  • Develop metrics and monitoring tools to support SRE (Support) and Operations functions.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in Azure administration, particularly with hybrid connections and network security.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in implementing and managing enterprise networking and data center environments, including switches, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in deploying, managing, and automating on-premises networking.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking environments is advantageous.
  • Additional experience troubleshooting other cloud networking environments such as AWS and GCP is a plus.

Specialized Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Expertise in building and managing large-scale, highly available, and fault-tolerant network infrastructures.
  • Experience in designing highly redundant core networks.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and firewall management.
  • Hands-on experience in Linux administration.
  • Proficiency in using scripts for infrastructure development (e.g., Bash, Python, Terraform).
  • In-depth knowledge of network appliances (both hardware and virtual), including Cisco, Fortinet, and/or Palo Alto.
  • Familiarity with SRE concepts is considered an asset.

Decision Making & Supervision:

  • This role will significantly influence the standardization and utilization of the on-premise network infrastructure for Telesat data centers.
