About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Analyst to join our team at Bird Construction. As a key member of our tax department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our tax obligations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual income tax provisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual income tax returns and manage income tax installment schedules and true-ups.
  • Review notices of assessment or reassessment, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or issues.
  • Support federal and provincial income tax audits by preparing responses to inquiries and collaborating with external auditors.
  • Collaborate on the preparation of T106 and T1134 information returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, focusing on automation and streamlining tax operations to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Document significant tax accounting matters, internal controls, and related policies, ensuring compliance and transparency.
  • Prepare consolidated forecasts for income tax expenses, cash taxes, and effective income tax rates to support internal and external reporting.
  • Assist with various ad-hoc tax-related matters, providing expert guidance and support as needed.
Requirements
  • CPA designation with 1+ years of Canadian income tax experience (U.S./international tax exposure is an asset).
  • Enrollment or partial completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical skills, particularly in Excel and TaxPrep (preferable).
  • A proactive mindset with a desire to streamline and automate tax processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with tax, finance teams, and external auditors.
  • A passion for learning and adapting to tax regulations beyond Canada.
  • Ability to forge, grow, and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize work to achieve them.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
