LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services is in search of a dedicated and compassionate individual to fulfill a dual role as a Lab Patient Technician and a Mobile Lab Patient Technician.
Note: This position requires Covid-19 vaccinations and a booster shot.
In the Lab Patient Technician capacity, you will be responsible for:
- Welcoming patients and gathering necessary information, while clearly explaining the specimen collection process.
- Conducting phlebotomies, connecting and disconnecting holter monitors, and performing ECG tracings.
- Executing specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screens and paternity tests, while ensuring accurate documentation.
- Maintaining strong client relationships through effective communication and follow-up.
- Entering patient demographics and requisition details accurately into the system.
- Preparing specimens for transportation and analysis.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong focus on exceptional customer service, demonstrating empathy and adaptability in challenging situations. Key qualifications include:
- Graduation from an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills with a typing speed of at least 40 wpm.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality.
As a Mobile Lab Patient Technician, your role will encompass:
- Coordinating a daily schedule for specimen collection at various locations, ensuring efficient travel and specimen integrity.
- Performing phlebotomies and other related tasks.
- Delivering specimens to designated laboratories for testing.
- Accessioning, spinning, separating, and preparing specimens for transport as needed.
- Booking patient appointments and ensuring compliance with specimen collection protocols.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals regarding patient needs and scheduling changes.
