At Alberta Health Services, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to our patients. As part of our commitment, we are seeking a Culinary Services Associate to join our Patient Food Services team. This role is vital in ensuring that our patients receive nutritious and appealing meals tailored to their dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities:
In the role of Culinary Services Associate, your responsibilities will include:
- Executing a variety of routine tasks related to food preparation in alignment with established standards and protocols.
- Portioning and packaging food items accurately and efficiently.
- Preparing meals according to predetermined guidelines and menus to ensure quality and consistency.
- Serving meals to patients and customers with a focus on excellent customer service.
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of equipment, dishes, tables, and serving areas to uphold health and safety standards.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess:
- A minimum of Grade 10 education or equivalent.
- The physical capability to lift food, supplies, and equipment weighing up to 46 lbs, as well as the ability to push or pull meal carts weighing up to 250 lbs.
- The ability to remain on your feet and walk for the duration of your shift.
Additional Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes in assignments as directed by supervisors.
- Reliability, cooperation, and a professional appearance.
- Independence in completing tasks while exhibiting sound judgment and leadership qualities.
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices and routine sanitation procedures.
- Motor coordination and dexterity.
- Confidentiality and adherence to departmental guidelines.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to perform simple calculations or follow basic instructions.
- A strong attendance record and a demonstrated commitment to personal suitability through previous employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are advantageous:
- Experience in food service, particularly within a hospital setting.
- Customer service experience.
- Familiarity with inventory management practices, including receiving deliveries and managing food expiry dates.
- Experience with industrial food service equipment.
- Food Safe Certification or equivalent training.
- WHMIS training.
