About the Opportunity
SuccessFactors and the Department of Family Practice are seeking a certified Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Primary Health Care Portfolio. Family Practices are engaged in providing clinical care to patients and their families, participating in quality and safety processes, and contributing to trainee education and academic activities. Under the guidance of established medical directives, the successful candidate will deliver clinical services under the supervision of an assigned Family Physician. This role will enable the PA to operate within their full scope of practice.
As a member of the team, the Physician Assistant will report to the Primary Supervising Family Physician and work within a dynamic collaborative care team. Reporting to the local manager and under the supervision of a family physician, the PA will provide comprehensive, continuous, and coordinated primary care to patients across the lifespan.
Physician Assistant Responsibilities
- Gather health history as appropriate, including patient demographics
- Conduct thorough and focused physical assessments and interpret findings
- Utilize primary and secondary assessment results to formulate a differential diagnosis and determine if further clinical investigation is required
- Order preliminary diagnostic testing and follow-up; interpret results
- Develop a treatment and management plan based on assessment and investigation results, availability of services, and special needs of the patient
- Implement effective treatment plans that include preventive and therapeutic interventions, demonstrating appropriate procedural skills, as determined by the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants Scope of Practice and National Competency Profile, and the supervising physician
- Collaborate with and seek appropriate consultation from the supervising physician and other health professionals involved in the patient's care

Compensation
- $61.60 hourly ($90,402 - $120,120 annually)
- This position is currently eligible for an additional 2% temporary market adjustment, which is reflected in the above compensation
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following qualifications:
- Graduate of or currently enrolled in an accredited recognized Physician Assistant program in Canada or the United States
- Certification through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council (PACC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Eligible for license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA)
- Medical Liability Insurance Required
- BLSC Certification
- Recent clinical experience in family medicine in the workplace or as part of clinical training
- Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, patient assessment, and telecommunication skills
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred
